A little more about me...

Hey! I'm Candyd Tan. I'm a graduate of Business Administration with a major in Management Accounting. I am also a self-taught freelance graphic designer. I started learning graphic design back in high school. And right there and then, I fell in love with design and just creating basically. I love coming up with ideas and bringing them to life.

GRAPHIC DESIGN & PHOTO EDITING EXPERIENCE

I’d say I have about 6 years of experience in photo editing and graphic design. I started using GIMP as an editing software about 10 years ago. I’ve been using it for a while since the start of my freelancing career. I designed logos, shirts, and banners with it. But then, I switched to using Photoshop and Illustrator. I’ve been using it for a while now because I’ve realized it's been the standard for the industry. I've also occasionally used Canva as a graphic design tool, but I don’t use it as much as I use Photoshop and Illustrator just because I feel like I don’t have the creative freedom to do what I really want with Canva, although it’s still a great app to use for graphic design.​

VIDEOGRAPHER & VIDEO EDITING EXPERIENCE

I do have experience in both photo and video editing. I started video editing as a hobby probably about twelve years ago, I started with Windows Movie Maker, just the basic slideshows with music and captions on top of them. Then, a couple years ago, I started using Videopad. This time, I started editing actual videos for other people for free. I then uploaded a couple of lyric videos I’ve uploaded on Youtube and also a couple of personal vlog style videos (that one I kept private). Then, about 4–6 years ago, I started using Lightworks and Premiere Pro. This is when I unintentionally started being a "Freelance Video Editor/Videographer". I started filming and editing videos for events such as birthdays and reunions. Then in the last 3 years, I started using Filmora for editing videos, though not as much. I still edit a couple videos for other people here and there. I think it’s safe to say that I have at least 6 years of experience in video editing. For reels and tiktok videos right now, I use Capcut for editing those.

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE

On Instagram, I ran two small online businesses. One of them is @selloutworld. I started this one back in September 2019. It was active up until the middle of the height of the pandemic. Everything in the account was created by me, from the actual designs of the tote bags, the actual tote bags, and the social media posts and videos. The other one is called @thriftheadsph, which is basically a buy and sell account. This one I’m still managing today. I started this one back in July 2019, and it grew to 1000+ followers before I started learning everything I know about digital marketing. I also deal with the customer support on both accounts.

GOALS

One of my goals right now is to be an apparel designer. I'm very much interested in designing merchandise for artists but not limiting myself to just doing that. I am open to any kind of design or marketing gig. I'm looking forward to working for clients, which could be freelance or full-time.
